All Frequencies Sound Collective

Good mental health & electronic sounds
There is a lot of talk about “creative health” in today’s healthcare system. Talk is fine, let’s do!
AFSC was established in 2022 in Newcastle upon Tyne in recognition that music production can have positive benefits on your mental health, but it is also extremely inaccessible.
At AFSC we get together in our community studio and use music production as a form of mindfulness through activity.
We pride ourselves on providing a safe space, zero exclusionary and also to fee to participate. Come and join the Collective!

Frequently Asked Questions
I have no experience of making electronic music can I still come to a workshop?
Absolutely. We aim to coach those who have never touched a synthesiser or drum machine before. We will give you as much input as you need to start exploring sound. We don’t want to overburden you with info, but we are always happy to help you progress on your journey of exploration.
How often do you run workshops?
As a minimum, we put on a workshop every other Sunday between 1400-1700. The exact dates can be found on the “get involved” page.
We do run ad hoc sessions and special events.
All events and workshops are advertised on our insta!

Where is it?
Our studio is at:
The Recovery College
1 Carliol Square, Newcastle,
NE1 6UF
Press the buzzer labelled “Synth Club” and we will let you in!
How much is it to enter?
It is completely free!
We are proud to say that we have been supported by the National Lottery’s Community Fund which has sourced us a studio until December 2026.
All our facilitators and trustees are volunteers who have an interest in music and mental health.
Do I have to have a mental health diagnosis to attend?
No!
We believe that maintaining good mental health as a preventative measure is just as valid as interventions for poor mental health.
We just ask that all who attend workshops are mindful that other collective members might have needs that are different to their own.
